JIM THORPE GREAT AMERICAN SERIES RUNWELL AUTOMATIC 45MM Blue Dial
Shinola’s Great Americans Series is a collection of limited-edition products that honor those American icons who’ve helped shape our culture and made a lasting mark on this country’s history. Beautifully crafted by our skilled team of artisans and collaborators, we pay tribute to those who have been a source of inspiration for so many through storytelling, craftsmanship, and design.
This limited edition 45mm Runwell Automatic is our homage to the greatest athlete in the world: 1912 Olympic Gold Medalist Jim Thorpe. Also known by his Sac and Fox name, Wa-Tho-Huk, or “Bright path the lightning makes as it goes across the sky,” Thorpe was a celebrated pentathlete and decathlete, a professional football, baseball, and basketball player, and a lifelong activist for Native rights who overcame myriad obstacles levied against him due to his Indigenous heritage.
AUTOMATIC SELLITA SW200-1 MOVEMENT
Powered by your motion, this Swiss automatic movement drives the hours, minutes, seconds and calendar aperture function. Twenty-six jewels help reduce friction to maintain accuracy, and with a 38-hour power reserve, you can trust this timepiece with your every move.
SOLID STAINLESS STEEL
This 45mm polished stainless-steel case features a classic pumpkin crown and double-domed sapphire crystal. The case back is a statement on its own, with an enamel inlay that honors Jim Thorpe’s legacy. A sapphire exhibition window reveals the watch’s workhorse movement and rotor adorned with the signature Shinola bolt.
AN AMERICAN ICON
Red, white, and blue harken to Thorpe’s Olympic achievements. Custom hands and lettering on the dusty blue dial stand out with pride.
PADDED LEATHER STRAP
A supple leather strap in Bulldog Brown features detailing and stitching reminiscent of vintage leather footballs and padding.
A HERO’S STORY
In celebration of Thorpe’s life and achievements, the book-like packaging includes a felt pennant and one-of-a-kind items that will tell Jim Thorpe’s story for years to come.
